Podgorica, (MINA) – Businessman Dusko Knezevic, former Podgorica Mayor Slavoljub Stijepovc, and other defendants in the “Envelope” case have been acquitted in the retrial before the Podgorica High Court.

The acquittal was delivered by a panel of judges chaired by Judge Nenad Vujanovic.

Apart from Knezevic and Stijepovic, Branislav Todorovic, Zivko Sljivancanin, Tamara Krdzic, Goran Grujovic, and Tomica Knezevic were also acquitted, Vijesti online reports.

According to the indictment filed by the Special State Prosecutor’s Office, they were charged with forming a criminal organization and money laundering. They were acquitted in the first-instance ruling as well.

The Court of Appeal had previously overturned that first-instance ruling and ordered a retrial.
