Judicial decisions confirm the validity of the positions of the National Anti-Corruption Council and the Government in the Telekom case

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for the Political System, Judiciary, and Anti-Corruption stated that judicial decisions have confirmed the validity and legal sustainability of the positions of the Protector of Property and Legal Interests, the National Anti-Corruption Council, and the Government in the Telekom case.

“The decisions of the competent executive authorities did not allow time to become an ally of impunity for corruption,” the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release.

According to the press release, the Telekom case has not become time-barred, and all barriers on the path toward an impartial determination of the truth about the corruption that harmed the state have been removed.

“An important step has been achieved in protecting the public interest, confirming that the state has both the right and the obligation to persist in the fight for justice and accountability in cases of special social importance, in which damage was caused to state interests and the legal system was undermined for personal gain,” the Office added.

According to the press release, this is a small step for the National Anti-Corruption Council, but a major step for the rule of law and the fight against corruption in Montenegro, which must ultimately lead to the judicial prosecution of the “30-year patron of corruption” in Montenegro.
