Jelena Perovic sentenced to two years two months in prison

Podgorica, (MINA) - Jelena Perovic, former director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), has been sentenced to two years and two months in prison for abuse of office and forgery of an official document.
The first-instance verdict was delivered at the High Court by Judge Simo Rasovic, who rejected the prosecution’s request for detention.
Perovic’s assistant, Nina Paovic, was sentenced to six months for abuse of office and, according to the verdict, she will serve the sentence under house arrest.
Perovic is to pay EUR 19,825 to the state, and Paović EUR 7,417, as part of a property claim.
The former ASK director was acquitted of charges related to the payment of bonuses, but those concerning an official trip to Ljubljana.
She was found guilty on charges regarding the payment of the mobile phone bill used by her daughter, but also payment of official trips expenses taken by Nikola Lekic, who had been hired by ASK under contract.
