Podgorica, (MINA) - Montenegro welcomes the announced ten-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, said Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanovic.

In a post on the X social network, on the occasion of the announcement of a ten-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, Ivanovic emphasized the importance of that step for reducing tensions and protecting the civilian population.

“Montenegro welcomes the announcement of a ten-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon and appreciates the efforts of the United States in facilitating this step”, Ivanovic wrote.

The pause in hostilities, he added, offers an important opportunity to alleviate civilian suffering and enable safe and unhindered humanitarian access.

“Montenegro underscores the importance of full respect for international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians, and expects that this development will contribute efforts towards a lasting and peaceful resolution”, Ivanovic concluded.
