Inquiry Committee to interview Milo Djukanovic

Podgorica, (MINA) - The Inquiry Committee tasked with investigating attacks on journalists and intellectuals will interview former President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, it was decided at a session of the parliamentary body.

The hearing was proposed by Democrat MP Momcilo Lekovic, and the initiative was unanimously supported.

Explaining the initiative, Lekovic said that it is logical for the committee to take statements from Djukanovic regarding the murders of Dan dialy editor-in-chief Dusko Jovanovic and journalist Goran Zugic.

He recalled that Djukanovic covered the highest state offices at the time when these murders took place.

The Inquiry Committee chair, Andrija Nikolic, said that the purpose of the initiative to question Djukanovic is divert attention from certain issues.

“There are a lot of announced initiatives and from all of them we have now arrived at the former president, obviously in an attempt to shift the political focus”, said Nikolic.

Lekovic requested that the Inquiry Committe hear Djukanovic at the next session.

Following the votw, Nikolic said that the Committee would later agree the date of the session.
