Podgorica, (MINA) – An evacuation flight for Montenegrin citizens stranded in Jordan and Egypt as tourists has been successfully organized and the plane with over 70 passengers departed from the airport in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimovic.
In a press release, Ibrahimovic stated that this was the first evacuation flight of Montenegrin citizens for which the Government of Montenegro managed to organize a charter flight operated by Air Montenegro.
He also announced another charter flight, operated by Fly Dubai, which will transport all interested Montenegrin citizens from the United Arab Emirates to Podgorica on Wednesday. Approximately 160 Montenegrin nationals registered for the flight.
Ibrahimovic recalled that the escalation of the security situation is taking place in several Middle Eastern countries, accompanied by rising tensions.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under my leadership, is making maximum efforts to ensure timely communication and provide the necessary assistance to our citizens in the Gulf countries who want to return to Montenegro, in constant communication with our colleagues from Montenegrin embassies, competent consulates and honorary consuls”, said Ibrahimovic.
