Podgorica, (MINA) - The Institute Alternativa (IA) has called on the Parliament of Montenegro to review the Report on the work of the State Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Council for the past year in a timely manner and adopt the conclusions.
Stevo Muk of this NGO recalled that last year’s report was only considered in October and that, since it was not adopted, no conclusions were issued whose implementation could be monitored.
As he explained, at the end of March, the Prosecutor’s Council adopted and submitted to the Parliament the annual report on the work of the State Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Council for the previous year.
“We call on Parliament to place this document into the appropriate procedure without delay”, said Muk.
He emphasized the importance of the competent parliamentary committee, the Political System, Judiciary and Administration Committee, considering the report within a reasonable timeframe, after which a plenary debate on its content should follow.
“We believe that it is of crucial importance that Parliament, after the discussion, adopts appropriate conclusions that will contribute to improving the work of the prosecution system and strengthening the rule of law”, Muk said.
