Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – On 30 March, the Parliament’s Economy, Finance and Budget Committee will hold a consultative hearing for candidates who applied to the public call for the appointment of three members of Montenegro’s Fiscal Council.
The hearing will be organized for Stevan Gajevic, Bratislav Pejakovic, Lidija Martinovic, and Slavko Rakocevic.
At the end of January, the Committee launched a public call for the appointment of three members of the Fiscal Council, which was open until 20 February.
Two candidates were voted on in Parliament at the end of last year, but Stevan Gajevic and Nina Vujosevic did not receive the necessary support from MPs at that time.
The European Commission (EC) had previously called for the completion of the Fiscal Council, warning in its Montenegro Progress Report at the end of last year that the country must more decisively limit public spending and increase budget revenues while respecting fiscal rules, implement the Law on Budget and Fiscal Responsibility, and establish the Fiscal Council in time to consider this year’s budget.
The Fiscal Council is an independent body tasked with overseeing the implementation of fiscal policy and proposing measures for its improvement.
