Harmonization of legislation and strengthening of institutions in the maritime sector

Harmonization of legislation and strengthening of institutions in the maritime sector

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulovic said that progress in the European Union (EU) accession process remains a strategic goal, which in the maritime sector means harmonizing legislation, strengthening institutions, and ensuring consistent and measurable implementation of EU standards.

Speaking at the presentation of the Study on Maritime Safety Measures to Improve Navigation in the Bay of Kotor, held at the Europe House, he stated that investments, integration, and the green agenda are key priorities of the document.

“We are committed to mobilizing both national and international funds, in close cooperation with partners such as the European Union, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank (WB), and other financial institutions. Our goal is to turn identified priorities into concrete projects that will enhance safety and efficiency,” said Radulovic.

He noted that protecting the unique ecosystem of the Bay of Kotor is not optional, but a responsibility we all share.

“We are committed to reducing environmental risks, promoting sustainable maritime transport, and supporting broader goals of decarbonization and environmental protection,” Radulovic added.

He said that the Bay of Kotor is one of the country’s most valuable natural and economic assets, adding that with the continuous growth of tourism and maritime traffic, the need for smart, safe, and sustainable solutions has never been greater.
