Government: Diesel price to rise by just four cents instead of 31

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Government has adopted maximum measures to limit fuel prices and reduced the pricing calculation period from 15 to seven days, meaning diesel will increase by only four cents instead of 31.

The Government stated in a press release that the measure followed intensive communication and detailed analyses with the relevant energy and finance ministries, as well as representatives of oil companies and EU experts.

“Despite the significant loss of state revenues, as indicated by the Ministry of Finance, the Government opted for the maximum possible measure in order to protect the interests of citizens and businesses,” the press release reads.

In practice, this means that the price of diesel, which accounts for 86 percent of total consumption, will rise by only four cents instead of 31. As a result, the price of diesel will be €1.54 from Tuesday instead of €1.81, while a liter of petrol will cost €1.51 instead of €1.68.

“Thaks to these measures, citizens of Montenegro will continue to pay fuel prices that are among the most affordable in Europe,” the Government said.
