Gorcevic: Montenegro’s future lies on young people growing up with European values

Podgorica, (MINA) – Institutions can lead Montenegro’s EU membership negotiations, but the future of the country rests with the youth and generations growing up with European values, said Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorcvic at the Europe Day celebration in Tuzi.

The Europe Day celebration was organized by the Ministry of European Affairs, with the support of the EU Delegation to Montenegro through the EU4ME project, in cooperation with the Municipality of Tuzi and “Mehmed Fatih” Madrasa.

Gorcevic recalled that Montenegro is on the threshold of achieving its goal – full EU membership.

As she explained, this means more opportunities for young people, a safer future and a more modern Montenegro in which knowledge, work and talent are the greatest values.

President of the Municipality of Tuzi Lindon Gjelaj stressed the importance of cooperation among nations and the power of dialogue in building a better future, which awaits the country on the EU path.

Minister of Public Administration Marash Dukaj pointed out the importance of local governments in the integration process.

“The adoption of the Local Government Law represents an important milestone in the modernization of Montenegrin administration and the strengthening of local governments. This law is particular important for meeting Chapter 23 benchmarks, because with the support of the EU, we want every city and every citizen to benefit from the integration”, said Dukaj.

Minister of Public Works Majda Adzovic pointed out the importance of investing in communities and infrastructure that connects people.

German Ambassador to Montenegro Peter Felten said that the future of Montenegro and the future of its citizens is in the EU.
