Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Over the past three years, Montenegro has achieved its best results in absorbing European Union funds since the beginning of the European integration process, Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorcevic said.

“Last year alone, Montenegro absorbed a record amount of more than €245 million, which is more funding from EU than during the entire four-year period from 2016 to 2019,” Gorcevic said.

She stated that, Montenegro has made a major breakthrough in absorbing EU funds since, adding that they exceeded the annual amount of €100 million for the first time during that period.

“These results confirm that reform processes are producing concrete effects and that today we have significantly greater capacity for preparing and implementing European projects,” Gorcevic said.

She said that the Ministry of European Affairs, in cooperation with other Government institutions, has made significant efforts in recent years to strengthen coordination and improve capacities for accessing available support funds, contributing to the record results Montenegro has achieved.
