Podgorica, (MINA) - The Albanian Forum will submit an amendment to the electoral law in order to restore the guaranteed mandates, as a key condition for a fair and inclusive electoral system, announced leader of the Albanian Forum and the Deputy Prime Minister Nik Gjeloshaj.
He said that the Albanian Forum supports the introduction of open electoral lists as an important step towards greater democratization of the electoral system.
“However, we clearly point out that without guaranteed mandates for the Albanian and Croatian communities, there can be no full electoral justice or genuine European reform. That’s why we will submit an amendment to restore guaranteed mandates, as a key condition for a fair and inclusive electoral system”, stated Gjeloshaj.
He pointed out that by signing the agreement, the leaders of the parliamentary majority had undertaken to resolve the issue.
“In this context, we also expect the constructive involvement of international partners, especially the EU Delegation in Montenegro, in order to support the resolution of the minority rights issue in accordance with European standards, bearing in mind that this is also one of the obligations that must be fulfilled in order to close the negotiation chapters”, said Gjeloshaj.
