Franges: Montenegro’s progress important for the pace of EU enlargement

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro’s progress on the European path is encouraging and significant for the overall pace of the EU enlargement, Slovenian Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Anzej Franges assessed.
Franges said this during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanovic.
He said that Slovenia strongly supports Montenegro’s European path.
According to the press release, Franges described Montenegro’s progress as encouraging and significant for the overall pace of EU enlargement.
“Franges pointed out that Montenegro, as the most advanced candidate, has a real opportunity to further strengthen its position through the continuation of reforms, and emphasized Slovenia’s readiness to continue providing political and expert support in that process”, the press release said.
Ivanovis emphasized that the results so far in the negotiation process clearly confirm Montenegro’s consistent and firm commitment to EU membership.
He pointed out the importance of implementing reforms, stating that Montenegro remains a credible partner that contributes to stability and security in the region.
