Final verdict in Slavoljub Scekic murder case

Final verdict in Slavoljub Scekic murder case

Podgorica, (MINA) - The Supreme Court has rejected as unfounded the appeals filed by the defendants and their defense attorneys and upheld the Appellate Court’s ruling in the case of the murder of police inspector Slavoljub Scekic, which made the verdict final.

Under the final ruling, the accused Sasa Boreta, Ljubo Bigovic, Ljubo Vujadinovic and Milan Scekic were each sentenced to 30 years in prison for aggravated murder, causing general danger and other criminal acts.

The Supreme Court assessed that no significant violations of the law had been committed during the proceedings and that the Appellate Court had correctly evaluated the evidence, including witness statements, material evidence, expert findings and other.

The Supreme Court assessed that the Appellate Court acted correctly after part of the previously submitted evidence had been excluded as legally invalid, and that in the repeated proceedings the decision was based on solely on evidence that was legally valid.
