Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Agricultural Cluster of Montenegro has invited all milk producers to a rally in front of the relevant Ministry tomorrow, in order to present their proposals and show solidarity with colleagues whose milk purchases have already been suspended.

The rally will begin at 9:30 a.m.

President of the Agricultural Cluster of Montenegro Bosko Milicic previously informed the public, relevant institutions, and all participants in the milk production and collection chain about the current situation, saying that it has caused serious concern among producers across the country.

“As announced, milk purchases will be discontinued for producers who deliver less than 100 litres of milk. Such a practice calls into question the survival of many farms, as well as the stability of the entire dairy sector in Montenegro. We believe that unity among all milk producers, regardless of production size, is key to domestic milk production and the protection of shared interests,” Milicic stated in a press. 

He said that representatives of the Cluster will attend a meeting starting at 10 a.m. with representatives of the relevant ministry, retail chains, processors, and producers.

Milicic announced that if the problem of milk purchases is not urgently resolved, the Agricultural Cluster will be forced to call on all producers to jointly suspend milk deliveries regardless of quantity. 

According to him, the Cluster is firm in its position that it will not sign new contracts offered by certain dairies, as they include provisions that are unacceptable and harmful to producers.
