European future and regional stability shared goals of Montenegro and North Macedonia

Podgorica, (MINA) - The European future and regional stability are shared goals of Montenegro and North Macedonia, it was noted during a meeting between the presidents of the two countries, Jakov Milatovic and Gordana Siljanovska Davkova.

Milatovic met in Cetinje on Friday with Siljanovska-Davkova, who is paying her second visit to Montenegro.

According to the press release from Milatovic’s office, the focus of the meeting was European integration and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.

Siljanovska-Davkova praised Montenegro’s EU integration progress, stating that “a step forward for Montenegro is a step forward for the entire region”.

Milatovic said that Montenegro is strongly committed to good-neighborly cooperation as one of the key priorities of Montenegrin foreign policy, and expressed satisfaction with every step forwards made by its neighbors on the European path.

He said that the EU-Western Balkans Summit, which Montenegro will host in June, will be the most important political event for the region in the coming period and that the goal is to ensure that the Western Balkans is clearly positioned on the European agenda.

“At the Summit, we want to send a unique message – that reforms are progressing, that we expect visible EU steps towards our membership. Montenegro, EU integration frontrunner, will continue to support other candidate countries”, Milatovic pointed out.

Siljanovska-Davkova invited Milatovic to pay an official visit to North Macedonia.
