EU strongly supports Montenegro in final stage of negotiations

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The European Union is supporting Montenegro in the crucial phase of negotiations, as it moves toward closing the remaining chapters, said Valentina Superti, Director for the Western Balkans at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement and the Eastern Neighbourhood.

At a meeting with Minister of Finance Novica Vukovic, she said she recognizes the commitment of the Ministry of Finance, which is responsible for a large number of negotiating chapters.

“The meeting provided an opportunity for a thorough and comprehensive analysis of the activities related to the final negotiation process, as well as for precisely identifying potential challenges and defining effective mechanisms to overcome them,” the Ministry said in a press release.

The establishment of the Fiscal Council was recognized as one of the key priorities. Vukovic said the Government is fully aware of its importance and will do everything to ensure the institution is established within deadlines that guarantee its full functionality and institutional strength.

Vukovic stated that the priorities of the Ministry of Finance and the expectations of the European Commission are fully aligned, and that the team he leads is making every effort to fully implement reform obligations in the most efficient manner and in line with the planned timeline.
