EU Delegation: Government and opposition ready to seek common ground in EU agenda related areas

Podgorica, (MINA) – Representatives of the ruling majority and the opposition have expressed readiness to work together on finding joint solutions in areas important for meeting Montenegro’s EU accession benchmarks, the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Montenegro announced.
A meeting between government and opposition representatives was held on Sunday at the premises of the EU Delegation in Podgorica, hosted by Ambassador Johann Sattler.
“During the meeting held in an open and constructive atmosphere at the EU Delegation premises, representatives of the ruling majority and the opposition expressed their willingness to work together and through inclusive political process seek common grounds in the areas of particular importance for fulfilling Montenegro’s EU accession benchmarks”, the EU Delegation told the MINA News Agency.
According to the EU Delegation, special emphasis was placed on the importance of restoring trust among political actors and preserving institutional dialogue as key preconditions for the successful completion of Montenegro’s EU accession negotiations.
The EU Delegation in Montenegro also noted that it was agreed that the talks would continue in the following period.
