EPCG: € 333 million paid to privileged producers, contractual arrangement established by DPS

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Citizens and primarily Elektroprivreda (EPCG) have so far paid a total of €333 million to privileged producers for purchasing their output, while the company generates only about €140 million in revenue from that same energy after supplying it to consumers.

EPCG stated in a press release that the contractual arrangement established by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) for the Mozura wind farm remains in force until the end of 2031, meaning that EPCG and citizens will continue to purchase electricity at prices approximately twice as high as those at which that same energy is delivered to end users.

In response to a DPS statement regarding the renewable energy support system, EPCG said the public should be presented with complete and accurate facts, rather than selectively presented data that can be misleading.

Presenting key data on the Mozura wind farm, they said total output amounts to 753,503 megawatt-hours (MWh), for which a total of €72,336,258 was paid.

“The average purchase price is around €96/MWh, while the value of the same energy at the price charged to citizens is €33,779,822.11,” the press release reads.

According to the company, the average value for citizens is about €44.83 to 45 per MWh.

“The difference between consumers and Mozura wind farm is -€38,556,435.85. The value of the same energy based on HUPX prices is €93,933,951.52. The difference HUPX – Mozura wind farm s +€21,597,693.56. The difference HUPX – Mozura wind farm excluding 2022 is around -€1,407,067.53,” the press release states.
