Energy security key to economic resilience

According to a press release from the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the officials met in Washington, D.C. to discuss development plans and key projects Montenegro is implementing in the energy sector.
“They concluded the Transatlantic Summit is an important initiative confirming that energy stability and diversification are shared goals of all countries, regardless of their size, and that modern energy challenges require partnership, coordination, and joint action,” the press release reads.
Particular emphasis was placed on Montenegro’s progress in aligning its national legislation with the EU acquis, which, along with its favourable geographical position, further enhances the country’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
The officials noted that Montenegro has achieved significant progress in improving the business environment and that the continued implementation of strategic projects, including the upcoming construction of a second submarine power cable to Italy and further integration with the European electricity market, confirms its reliability and credibility as a partner.
The meeting also addressed the intergovernmental agreement between Montenegro and the United States in in the field of energy, which provides an additional framework for enhancing cooperation, knowledge exchange, and encouraging American investment in Montenegro’s energy sector.
It was concluded that the agreement opens a new phase of bilateral relations in energy transition, infrastructure development, and security of supply.
Sahmanovic stated that the meeting with the State Department envoy confirmed that energy cooperation is one of the key pillars of overall relations between Montenegro and the United States.
Key intergovernmental agreements signed by Montenegro, which further contribute to strengthening international cooperation and investment potential in the energy sector, were also discussed at the meeting.
