Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Through the Games of Chance Inspectorate, the Ministry of Finance has intensified activities aimed at combating illegal gambling operations through the implementation of measures prescribed by the Law on Games of Chance and the additional strengthening of inspection capacities.

The Ministry said in a press release that these activities are being carried out in coordination with the Games of Chance Administration, the Police Directorate, and the State Prosecutor’s Office, with the goal of protecting lawful business operations, combating the informal economy, and strengthening legal certainty.

“The focus of the Games of Chance Inspectorate is directed toward detecting and suppressing illegal gambling operations, particularly through locating and confiscating illegal slot machines and terminals that had been installed without concessions in hospitality establishments, gas stations, and other public spaces, where such activities are strictly prohibited by law,” the press release reads.

At the same time, intensified inspections are also being conducted at legal gambling venues in order to monitor the use of machines and equipment in accordance with permits issued by the competent authorities.

Special focus has also been placed on the protection of minors, and five requests to initiate misdemeanour proceedings have been filed due to the unlawful presence of minors in betting shops and slot machine clubs.
