Podgorica, (MINA) – The EU and Montenegro, after 14 years of negotiations, are closer than ever, the European Commission (EC) announced. 

The EC stated that last week a historic step has been taken, approving a working group to begin drafting Montenegro’s Accession Treaty, the first time since Croatia joined in 2013. 

“Montenegro is the country closest to becoming an EU member, and we remain fully committed to its European future”, the EC announced on the Instagram social network.
