Djukanovic will not attend hearing before Inquiry Committee

Podgorica, (MINA) – Former President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic will not respond to the invitation to attend the hearing before the Inquiry Committee, scheduled for Friday in the parliament.

Djukanovic said this in a letter sent to Inquiry Committee chair Andrija Nikolic.

He thanked for the invitation to attend the committee session, stating that he had responded to all previous invitations from Montenegrin institutions.

Djukanovic said that he had already publicly stated several times everything he had to say on the topics that led to the formation of the Inquiry Committee.

“Since I have nothing to add to my publicly stated positions, I do not see the purpose of participating in the work of the Committee”, said Djukanovic.

He added that he is convinced that those answers are available to members of the Inquiry Committee and interested MPs in the archives of the parliament.

“Also, from even a superficial monitoring of the work of the Inquiry Committee, both in terms of the selection of topics and guests, I would say that from the initial idea to clarify some events from the Montenegrin political past, the Committee has in the meantime become another place for partisan, unargued bickering, increasingly used as part of the election campaign for the upcoming parliamentary elections”, said Djukanovic.

He added that he does not intend to participate in that.
