Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Elektroprivreda (EPCG) Milutin Djukanovic, saif that modernizing the power grid and strengthening its regional interconnection are among the key prerequisites for a successful energy transition.
EPCG took part in a panel that brought together prominent representatives of the energy sector from the region and Europe, aiming to exchange experiences and define directions for further development of power systems.
Djukanovic said that EPCG is continuously investing in the development and improvement of infrastructure, with a particular focus on integrating renewable energy sources (RES), digitalization, and increasing system resilience.
He also highlighted battery energy storage systems (BESS) as a key element for the further development of renewables.
“Energy transition is not possible without a strong, reliable, and modern grid. Montenegro recognizes the importance of timely investments in transmission and distribution infrastructure, as well as in battery energy storage systems, which are crucial for stabilizing production from renewable sources, balancing the system, and making more efficient use of solar and wind energy,” Djukanovic said.
