Podgorica, (MINA) - The dismantling of smuggling networks and the results in the fight against financial crime are the reasons behind frequent attacks on the security sector and confirmation that the establishment of the rule of law is near, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Aleksa Becic and Danilo Saranovic.
In a joint press statement, they noted that Montenegro finally has a government that serves the people, rather than one that exploits them.
“All we really needed was political will. Numerous strategic prosecutorial and police operations led to arrests and detentions of many individuals linked to organized crime and plundering of the state”, said Becic and Saranovic.
According to them, no one makes deals with criminals in Montenegro anymore, but they are now prosecuted without exception.
“All defined national priorities in the fight against crime are being implemented according to plan, and the latest action by the Special Police Department of the Police Administration and the Special State Prosecutor’s Office is a confirmation that the state is determined to bring cigarette smuggling to an end”, stated Becic and Saranovic.
Becic further stated that he demanded from Saranovic, Chief of Police Administration Lazar Scepanovic and all organizational units to continue “cleansing the security sector of members linked with organized crime and other serious illegal activities”.
