Deadline extension proposed for aligning with Law on Business Organizations until end-September

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Representatives of the Union of Municipalities have presented to members of parliament an initiative to extend the deadline for aligning company operations with the Law on Business Organizations until the end of September this year.

At a meeting of the parliamentary Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget, Deputy Secretary General of the Union of Municipalities Marija Kljajic presented an initiative previously submitted to the Ministry of Economic Development, proposing that the deadline for aligning the organization and operations of companies with the Law on Business Organizations be extended until the end of September.

The proposed amendments to the Law on Business Organizations, submitted by 46 MPs and discussed at the Committee meeting, foresee extending this deadline until June 15.

According to a press release from the Union, Kljajic reminded that there is a conflict between several systemic laws that regulate the organization and operations of business entities in different ways, given that companies established by local administrations are also subject to laws on local self-government, labour, prevention of corruption, and state property, in addition to the Law on Business Organizations.

She warned that this could lead to proceedings before the Constitutional Court, challenges to decisions made by management bodies, as well as problems during registration in the Central Register of Business Entities.
