Podgorica, (MINA) - Danilo Mandic, nephew of Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandic has been sentenced to one year in prison for illegally taking a parliamentary vehicle, the Podgorica Basic Court announced.
The court said that Mandic’s custody was terminated, as he has already spent one year in detention.
According to the press release, Mandic was acquitted of charges of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosive substances, as well as the criminal offenses of minor bodily injury and a serious offense against public safety, due to a lack of evidence.
As stated by the Basic Court, the injured parties, Darko Perovic and Aris Turkovic, were unable to identify who fired the projectile and caused their injuries.
The Basic Court added that that the case remained at the level of reasonable doubt, as the eyewitnesses also did not see who fired the shot.
During the proceedings, based on personal and material evidence, the Court established that Mandic unlawfully took a vehicle assigned to the Parliament by the Government’s decision, which had been parked in front of his uncle’s family home.
It is stated that it was established that, according to the Parliament’s records, Mandic is not employed by the Parliament of Montenegro, nor is authorized to use any official vehicle owned or at the disposal of the Montenegrin Parliament.
