Podgorica, (MINA) - The Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North (MERS) has intensified the harmonization and implementation of requirements under Chapter 27, which covers environment and climate change, said Minister Damjan Culafic.
According to the press release from the Ministry, Culafic made the statement at the Montenegro- EU Stabilization and Association Committee meeting.
“Montenegro is fully aware of the need to further accelerate legislative harmonization and ensure the full implementation of obligations under Chapter 27 – Environment and Climate Change, in order to meet the final benchmarks and continue progress in the negotiation process”, said Culafic.
He recalled that, to this end, on March 15, an extensive package of documents confirming the intensification of activities was submitted to the European Commission.
Culafic explained that the package includes 12 laws, 95 by-laws, four strategies, eight specific directive implementation plans and 40 compliance tables submitted to the EC.
“This package is proof of systematic and planned work on fulfilling the remaining obligations, not just an administrative response”, said Culafic.
According to the press release, he called on the EU representatives to return the documents submitted to the EC with comments as soon as possible, in order to incorporate their suggestions in a timely manner and ensure the smooth continuation of alignment with European legislation.
