Podgorica, (MINA) – Podgorica’s participation in the competition for the title of European Green Capital 2028 is a strong confirmation that the government is thinking long-term, with a clear ambition to build a sustainable, healthy and clean future for its citizens, said Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North Damjan Culafic.

In a press release he stated that he was pleased with the news that Podgorica entered the race for the title of European Green Capital in 2028.

“It is a strong confirmation that we are thinking long-term, with a clear ambition to build a sustainable, healthy and clean future for our citizens”, said Culafic.

According to him, as a country that is making progress on its EU accession path and achieving results within Chapter 27, which refers to environmental protection, such steps are highly important and encouraging and confirm that the reform processes are recognized outside of Montenegro.

He added that they are aware that Montenegro, and therefore Podgorica, still has a lot of work to do when it comes to improving ecological infrastructure.

Culafic added that the Ministry will be a reliable partner, dedicated to creating a healthier, high-quality and more sustainable living environment for all citizens.
