Podgorica, (MINA) – The Basic Court in Niksic has accepted a proposal by the defense attorneys of businessman Aco Djukanovic for his release on bail in the amount of EUR 5 million.

The decision to accept bail was made by Basic Court judge Sava Musikic, RTNK reports.

One of Djukanovic’s attorneys said that Djukanovic was placed under surveillance measures, including a ban on leaving his place of residence and the confiscation of his travel document.

His lawyers assessed that some of the imposed measures were inappropriate, given the bail exceeding EUR 5 million and the nature of the criminal offense he is charged with.

Djukanovic was arrested following a police search of the family home in the Rastoci neighborhood of Niksic on February 28, after which he was detained due to the flight risk.
