COTEE: CEO election process conducted in line with regulations

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has found that the process of electing the Executive Director of the Montenegrin Electricity Market Operator (COTEE) did not compromise the public interest in a way that would indicate corruption, the company announced.

“Following the conducted procedure and analysis of all relevant facts and evidence, the Agency unequivocally concluded that the process of election of the COTEE Executive Director, based on the public call of June 18 last year, was not carried out in a manner that would indicate corruption or illegality,” said a press release, signed by the Chairman of COTEE’s Board of Directors Maksim Vucinic.

The company issued the press release in response to what it described as inaccurate claims made publicly regarding the CEO election process.

According to the press release, the Agency’s findings confirm the position of COTEE’s Board of Directors and Executive Director, who had previously stated in public appearances that the selection process was conducted fully in accordance with the applicable laws of Montenegro.

COTEE believes that the public interest requires responsible conduct from all public figures, especially when making allegations of corruption, which must be based on facts and findings of competent institutions, rather than political constructions.
