Podgorica (MINA) – The future of the citizens of Montenegro is in the European Union (EU) and a lot of hard work is taking place to make it happen, said President of the European Council Antonio Costa.
In a video message to the citizens of Montenegro on the occasion of Europe Day, he said that he is addressing them as future members of the EU.
According to the Europee House, Costa said that on Europe Day, a common European project is celebrated, when the founding members chose unity over division, and cooperation over the conflict.
He added that the EU supports Montenegro’s goal to become the next EU member state.
“We urge you to keep up the positive momentum. I would also like to congratulate you on your upcoming Independence Day. Montenegro has come a long way in just twenty years”, Costa said.
He stated that he looks forward to the Summit of the Western Balkans in Tivat on June 5.
“Together we will build a shared European future. Long live Europe”, said Costa.
