Cooperation with the World Bank to be intensified

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Finance Novica Vukovic has reiterated the Government’s strategic commitment to strong economic growth and a sustainable future for Montenegro through intensified cooperation with the World Bank and the concrete implementation of capital projects.

At a meeting with a high-level delegation of the World Bank, led by Regional Director for Sustainable Development Sameh Wahba, a clear message was sent that Montenegro must not and will not lag behind in modernizing key sectors that directly affect citizens’ quality of life and the competitiveness of the economy.

The meeting focused on projects in agriculture, fisheries, water resources, forestry, and waste management, which were identified as sectors forming the foundation of the country’s long-term stability and resilience.

“Particular focus was placed on the Climate-Resilient Fisheries and Agri-Food Development (CRAFD) project, which marks one of the most important development steps toward strengthening domestic production and food safety,” the Ministry of Finance said in a press release.

Vukovic stated that Montenegro must decisively invest in infrastructure that delivers tangible results, highlighting the construction of a fishing port as a national priority. This project is not just an infrastructure investment, but also a strong driver for the development of the fisheries sector, job creation, and strengthening export potential.

It was concluded that the partnership with the World Bank must remain strong, but also be substantively improved through more efficient project implementation and greater accountability of all parties involved.
