Podgorica, (MINA) – Good cooperation with international partners, especially with the United States, represents an important contribution to strengthening institutional efficiency, professionalism and public trust in the work of the prosecution.

This was stated by Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Markovic and Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novovic during a meeting with US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Michael Keays.

According to the press release by the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office, Markovic and Novovic thanked Keays for his continuous and significant support so far, stressing that high-quality cooperation with international partners, particularly the USA, represents an important contribution to strengthening institutional efficiency, professionalism and public trust in the work of the prosecution.

The press release adds that Keays expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with the State Prosecutor’s Office and welcomed the efforts of the Special State Prosecutor’s Office in the fight against transnational organized crime and high-level corruption.

He, as stated, emphasized the need for continued support through specific programs, expert assistance and joint initiatives aimed at improving results in the fight against transnational organized crime and drug trafficking.

“During the meeting, key issues for improving the rule of law were discussed, with a special emphasis on strengthening institutional capacities in the fight against organized crime and corruption and further development of professional standards and integrity in the work of the prosecutor’s office”, the press release said.
