Podgorica, (MINA) - The Constitutional Court of Montenegro must be urgently filled and the missing judges elected, it was heard during Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic’s working lunch with European Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.
According to the press release from Milatovic’s office, during an open and friendly conversation, two officials exchanged opinions on the current moment in Montenegro’s EU accession negotiations.
The meeting noted the results achieved during the Cypriot presidency and the importance of the formation of an ad hoc Working Party tasked with drafting Montenegro’s EU Accession Treaty.
It was assessed that it is necessary to further intensify the reform activities that lead to meeting the final benchmarks in the remaining negotiation chapters, in order to achieve the set goal of completing the technical part of the negotiations by the end of the year.
“In the area of the rule of law, which is the core of the integration process and on which the overall negotiations pace depends, it was especially emphasized that it is necessary to urgently fill the Constitutional Court and elect the missing judges, the process that has been pending for several months”, it was stated from Milatovic’s cabinet.
The two officials also discussed the upcoming EU-Western Balkans Summit, described as a historic event for Montenegro, as a host country.
