Constitutional Court did not decide on constitutionality of law confirming UAE agreement

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Constitutional Court has not reached a decision on the constitutionality of the Law ratifying the Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism and Real Estate Development between the governments of Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates, and the case will be reconsidered after the appointment of the missing judges.

“The vote ended in a 3–3 tie, meaning that the proposal of the reporting judge did not receive the constitutionally required majority of four votes. Accordingly, the case will be reconsidered after the appointment of the missing judges, or earlier if one of the judges changes their position,” the Constitutional Court said in a press release.

The Court reacted in order to provide accurate information to the public about the session at which initiatives to launch a procedure for reviewing the constitutionality of the law were considered.

“In such a situation, presenting this vote as confirmation of constitutionality is not based on facts and prejudges the decision in this case,” the press release reads.
