Closer institutional cooperation discussed

Closer institutional cooperation discussed

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic and Executive Director of the Hungarian National Tourism Organization – Visit Hungary, Oliver Csendes, met to discuss the possibility of strengthening institutional cooperation and exchanging experiences in the digitalization of tourism.

The Ministry of Tourism stated in a press release that Hungary’s experience in establishing a National Tourism Data Collection Centre, which operates in line with EU standards and whose data are used in official European statistics, is particularly important for Montenegro.

Kordic said that Montenegro is in the process of developing a similar system, with the aim of simplifying guest registration procedures, fully digitalizing processes, and introducing electronic payment of taxes and fees, thereby easing the burden on businesses and improving system efficiency.

In that context, the experiences of countries already applying advanced data collection models, such as Hungary, are of particular importance in order to avoid challenges during implementation.

It was also noted that the perception of luxury travel is changing, and that modern tourists increasingly value authentic and original experiences, which offers significant development opportunity for Montenegro, as it becomes increasingly attractive to visitors both from Europe and from distant destinations.
