Podgorica, (MINA) – As part of the national “Čuvaj da te čuva” campaign, a large-scale cleanup and landscaping campaign was carried out along the Budva-Cetinje-Podgorica road, the Europe House announced.
As they recalled, the campaign is implemented by the EU Delegation to Montenegro in cooperation with state and local institutions, municipalities, civil society organizations, the private sector and volunteers.
They explained that the program started in Budva, where EU Ambassador Johann Sattler, President of Budva Municipality Nikola Jovanovic, representatives of the Budva Public Utility Company, young EU ambassadors and local activists visited the viewpoint where waste had been recorded.
They then visited the Brajici landfill, where discussion focused on challenges in waste management and long-term solutions.
The Europe House said that the action continued in Cetinje, where Sattler and Cetinje Mayor Nikola Djuraskovic, together with young EU ambassadors, members of the Mountaineering Association of Montenegro and representatives of the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Culture (FCJK), participated in the cleanup at several locations along the road.
Sattler said that 2026 is an important year for Montenegro, in which the country aims to complete EU negotiations, but also the year in which Montenegro will be in European spotlight.
According to Sattler, removing waste from such locations is important, but not sufficient, adding that signs, waste bins, and even cameras should be installed at certain critical locations.
Jovanovic pointed out that it is a great pleasure for the Municipality of Budva to participate in an action aimed at raising awareness about environmental protection.
Djuraskovic pointed out that the campaign “Čuvaj da te čuva” has already contributed to improving Montenegro’s appearance.
