Clean-up action in Tuzi and along Podgorica-Tuzi Road

Podgorica, (MINA) – Clean-up in the Municipality of Tuzi and along the main road Tuzi – Podgorica was organized on Friday, as part of the national campaign “Čuvaj da te čuva”, aimed at removing illegal dumpsites and improving the appearance of main roads ahead of the tourist season.
The Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Montenegro, the NGO “Ozelenimo Crnu Goru”, the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North (MERS) and the municipalities of Tuzi and Podgorica participated in the joint clean-up action.
According to the press release by the Europe House, EU Ambassador to Montenegro Johann Sattler, Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North Damjan Culafic, as well as President of Tuzi Municipality Lindon Gjelaj, took part in the clean-up in Tuzi, together with their associates.
Europe House also stated that the management and employees of the company “13. jul Plantaže” joined the initiative, as well as Podgorica Mayor Sasa Mujovic, and President of the Capital City Assembly, Jelena Borovinic Bojovic.
Sattler said that this action demonstrates that environmental protection requires continuous and joint work of all actors – institutions, local self-governments, public companies, civil sector, businesses and citizens, including young people.
Culafic said that MERS remains committed to proper preparation for the final stage of the European integration path, fully aware that much work still lies ahead.
Mujovic pointed out that, if Montenegro wants EU membership, it must adopt European values and standards, especially in the area of environmental protection.
Borovinic Bojovic assessed that the environmental campaign “Čuvaj da te čuva” represents a successful example of the joint action by the EU, institutions, the civil and private sectors, as well as citizens and children.
