Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Chamber of Commerce (PKCG) has invited all interested parties to take part, on 10 March, in online public consultations on the future of Lake Sas in Ulcinj, focusing on circular aquaculture as a model of sustainable development.
As part of the project Allocated Zones for Circular Aquaculture (AZA4ICE), implemented through the Interreg Euro-MED 2021–2027 programme, PKCG is organizing the fourth LiRRIE event — an open public consultation on the final version of the Action Plan for the development of circular aquaculture at Lake Sas.
According to a press release from the PKCG, Lake Sas is one of the most significant natural areas in Montenegro, with strong ecological, economic and social potential.
“The Action Plan aims to establish a sustainable development model that contributes to strengthening the local economy, while preserving natural resources,” the press release reads.
The proposed measures include the establishment of a demonstration IMTA pilot (integrated multi-trophic aquaculture), a capacity-building programme for fishermen and small businesses, joint circular initiatives of the local community, a governance model based on cooperation between the municipality, fishermen’s associations and state institutions, as well as the identification of sustainable funding sources.
