Carapic: Parliament session postponed without PES’s knowledge

Podgorica, (MINA) – Europe Now Movement (PES) MPs were unaware that the Parliament session scheduled for Thursday would not take place, the party announced and called on all political actors not to, as they put it, make behind-the-scenes agreements.

PES MP Vasilije Carapic told the press conference that the party expresses its protest against both the parliamentary majority and the opposition.

“And the manner of working that does not allow this Parliament to fully implement its duty, which is to discuss and adopt laws that are important for our citizens”, said Carapic.

He said that PES will always strive to maintain dynamics when it comes to European legislation.

“Which will make it possible to conduct discussions within the scope determined by the Rules of Procedure, not to postpone the discussion on any law, and to proceed as quickly as possible”, said Carapic.

He said that this concerns hundreds of laws, based on which hundreds of by-laws must be adopted, in the form of instructions and regulations.

Carapic said that, as far as he knows, parliament will continue on Friday with its work.

Commenting on the Comprehensive Electoral Reform Committee and the announcement of the Democratic Party of Socialists that theyr will not participate in its work, he said that DPS was not the only party to refuse signing the decision to extend the work of the Committee.

“We offered all political entities to sign the decision extending the work of the committee. The DPS, the Social Democrats (SD) and the Democratic People’s Party (DNP) refused to sign it”, explained Carapic.

He expressed doubts that those political entities are counting on an accurate voters registries for the next elections.

Commenting on former high-ranking state official Milo Djukanovic’s decision not to attend the hearing before the Inquiry Committee, Carapic said that it is a “classic case of escaping from political responsibility”.
