Carapic: Lower excise duties do not guarantee lower fuel prices

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to head of the parliamentary group of the Europe Now Movement Vasilije Carapic, lower excise duties on fuel do not guarantee lower prices for citizens, but only lower public revenues.

“Different lobbying entities are doing their utmost to shift the entire burden of addressing the negative consequences of a war started by someone else onto the Government, with the aim of lowering fuel excise duties for oil companies – which does not guarantee lower prices for citizens, but only lower public revenues,” Carapic posted on X.

He added that the price of oil on the stock exchange had changed dramatically over the past seven days, but had stabilized and was currently at practically the same level as before the beginning of the war in the Middle East.

“Unfortunately, our citizens are being served completely different information through the media, creating the impression of chaos,” Carapic said.
