Podgorica, (MINA) - Members of the Capital City Assembly voted against the Initiative to shorten their mandates.
The initiative was supported by 28 opposition councilors, but the government councilors voted against, Vijesti daily reports.
Podgorica Mayor Sasa Mujovic said that the initiative of the European Alliance is legitimate, but that he does not believe it serves the best interest of the citizens of the Capital City.
He said that the current city administration has launched a number of key projects “that have been stalled for years”.
Mujovic said that he personally took the most difficult project – the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Botun.
“I said clearly and I stand by my words and you can see that the project has started. I advise you not to waste your courage at every step. Keep your courage”, said Mujovic.
