Calvino: EIB will continue investing in Montenegro

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – European Investment Bank (EIB) President Nadia Calvino said the bank, which today signed agreements worth €250 million with representatives of Montenegrin Government, will continue to support and invest in Montenegro.

“My message is that you can trust the EIB to continue standing by your side and making a difference by improving and investing in people’s lives and supporting Montenegro’s future position in the EU,” Calvino said after meeting Prime Minister Milojko Spajic at Villa Gorica.

Spajic said the signed agreements were the result of reforms, daily work, and the closing of negotiating chapters over the past two and a half years.

“Today we signed agreements worth €250 million, and when someone asks what the tangible benefits of European integration are, we presented them today for everyone to see,” Spajic said.

He said the Government would continue working even more intensively and cooperating with the EIB, which will open an office in Podgorica.

Calvino explained that the agreements signed today should contribute to improving the healthcare system, modernizing the railway, and accelerating the green transition for small and medium-sized enterprises through partnerships with national banks.

“This is clear evidence of how the EU, through the EIB, delivers tangible benefits for citizens, the economy, and the future of Montenegro,” Calvino said.
