Podgorica, (MINA) - Suspended special prosecutor Sasa Cadjenovic has been released pending trial, an investigation judge of the Podgorica High Court decided.
“The defendant Sasa Cadjenovic, suspected of continued criminal offense of abuse of office under Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro, has been placed under a supervision measure requiring him to report to the Police Administration once a month”, the High Court told Pobjeda.
According to them, an appeal is allowed against that decision.
Cadjenovic was detained for up to 72 hours earlier on Saturday, following a hearing at the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT).
As previously announced by the SDT, Cadjenovic is accused of not performing his official duties as a special prosecutor from 2016 to 2021 in criminal proceedings he had initiated against five defendants charged with illegal border crossing and human smuggling, and as a result, the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution began.
