Podgorica, (MINA) – The European Commission (EC) will continue to support Montenegro on its EU path, especially in the rule of law, security and migration, said European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner.
According to the press release from the Ministry of the Interior (MUP), Brunner met with Interior Minister Danilo Saranovic on the sidelines of the second International Migration Review Forum (IMRF).
“During the meeting, it was assessed that Montenegro is continuously achieving visible results in the fight against organized crime, strengthening border security and alignment with the EU standards, which additionally confirms the country’s credibility in the EU accession process”, said the MUP.
Brunner, as stated, praised the pace of reforms and the results achieved by Montenegrin institutions in the field of internal security.
“The EU recognizes the clear political will and determination of Montenegro to implement demanding reforms and fulfill its obligations from the negotiation process”, Brunner pointed out.
He emphasized that the EC would continue to provide full support to Montenegro on its European path, especially in areas related to the rule of law, security and migration.
