Podgorica, (MINA) – Residents of Botun held a protest on Tuesday against the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in their settlement.

The protest, described as a warning to the authorities, came after the Environmental Protection Agency issued on Friday a positive opinion on the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Botun.

The locals, who said that they are not against the plant itself, but are against the proposed location, also announced that they will stage a traffic blockade if the construction starts.

Podgorica Mayor Sasa Mujovic said previously that the construction of the plant must begin by the end of the year, as it is the only possible way for the Capital City to secure a wastewater treatment system and avoid paying tens of millions of EUR in damages if the work does not start.
