Podgorica, (MINA) - Bilateral cooperation between Montenegro and the United States is continuously developing and improving at all levels, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimovic.

He met on Monday with Deputy Assistant Secretary of European and Eurasian Affairs Daniel Lawton.

As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ibrahimovic welcomed Lawton’s visit and highlighted the friendly and allied relations between Montenegro and the USA, stressing that bilateral cooperation is continuously developing and improving at all levels.

“He particularly pointed out the importance of American support for the democratic and economic development of Montenegro and the Western Balkans region”, says the Ministry.

According to the press release, Ibrahimovic emphasized that the EU remains Montenegro’s number one foreign policy priority, while the USA is an irreplaceable strategic and political partner.

He added that Montenegro is interested in strengthening economic relations and attracting credible American investments, emphasizing the potential of the Montenegrin market and the importance of deepening economic cooperation.

Lawton assessed that the progress that Montenegro is making in NATO membership and on the European path contributes to creating a favorable investment climate.

“He pointed out that stability and prosperity remain the key shared goal, and highlighted the final stage of drafting the G2G (Government to Government) agreement between the US and Montenegro”, the press release said.
