Becic: State proves stronger than the mafia

Podgorica, (MINA) - Justice for police inspector Slavoljub Scekic has finally received its legally binding conclusion, after two decades of obstruction and annulled verdicts, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Becic announced, adding that the state has proven to be stronger than the mafia.

The Supreme Court upheld the ruling of the Appellate Court in Scekic’s murder case, under which the accused Sasa Boreta, Ljubo Bigovic, Ljubo Vujadinovic and Milan Scekic were each sentenced to 30 years in prison, making it final.

Becic said that a message was sent that Montenegro would never again be a country where the killers of police inspectors believe that time could hide them from justice.

He stated that this is the victory of the state over fear, the victory of justice over the mafia and the victory of honor over those who for years thought they were more powerful than the law.

According to Becic, Montenegro has shows that it will never be silent again and that it is stronger than crime.
